A quick guide

How to use this tool

  1. Check the example and the unit beside each input.
  2. Enter your values and choose Encode or Decode.
  3. Review the result and assumptions, then copy what you need.

Reset example restores the starting values. Clear removes text and number inputs, returns choices to their first valid option, and removes the result.

Reference guide

Explanation and worked examples

Decoding follows HTML text rules, including supported legacy semicolonless named references and numeric references. The result remains literal text; markup is never executed. Encoding represents characters such as < and & without interpreting them as markup.

Use in day-to-day IT work

Inspect a configuration fragment, log extract or structured-data sample during troubleshooting.

Checks before applying the result

  • Keep the original file and compare the output before replacing a configuration.
  • Check the target parser and encoding. Converting or formatting does not validate application-specific meaning.
